Supported Systems

rackAID provides comprehensive management for a variety of systems and control panels. Our staff specializes in several major Linux distributions and control panels. We limit the majority of our support to these systems to provide you with the highest level of expertise. We may not support all distribution all control panels, but we are experts in the those we choose to support.

Supported Operating Systems

Red Hat Linux is arguably the most popular enterprise-level Linux distribution available. Its long release life makes it ideal for businesses that don't want the hassle of time consuming OS upgrades.

Based on earlier versions of Red Hat Linux, Fedora Core is a free, community distribution. Fedora's shorter release life generally makes it unsuitable for enterprise systems.

Want RHEL but don't want to pay licensing fees? Then CentOS is the way to go. CentOS is free like Fedora but shares a release schedule similar to RHEL.

Supported Control Panels

Plesk, our recommended control panel, is an excellent choice for hosting providers. The latest versions of Plesk integrate virtualization into the standard control panel and support Miva.

Ensim is a leading control panel in the web hosting industry. Among other key features, Ensim provides web interfaces for the server administrator, the reseller, site admin and the end user.

cPanel is a popular control panel choice and includes the WebHostManager (WHM) a separate interface for server and reseller administrators.

Don't see your system?

If you don't see quite what you're looking for please contact us. We do offer limited support for a few Other distributions and control panels.

End-of-Life

What is End-of-Life and what does it mean for you? Basically an OS or control panel's EOL means the end of support and maintenance by the manufacturer for that product version. In most cases, known security problems and bugs will be fixed up until the EOL date. After that no more official updates or bug fixes will be released. The manufacturer will no longer offer any support for the product beyond existing knowledgebase articles or other documentation available at the product's end-of-life.

Where possible, we have tried to provide EOL dates or approximate dates for our supported distributions and control panels. We cannot, however, place any guarantee on these dates. They are set by the manufacturer and may be subject to change. As a general rule, we strongly recommend migrating off of systems and control panels that have reached their EOL. We do not recommend setting up new servers with products that have reached their EOL and we recommend careful consideration when installing products that will reach their EOL within 6-12 months following the installation.
